When and how did human morality arise?

Christopher Boehm is a professor of biological sciences and anthropology and director of the Jane Goodall Research Center at the University of South California. His current research focuses on the origin of human conscience, the development of altruistic behavior in human beings, and the evolution of political behavior in apes and humans. To further the evolutionary study of cooperation, he is creating a database that provides information about the social and moral behavior in hunter-gatherer societies.
